Did you know red yeast rice is good for cholesterol? It’s true! I only recently learned about red yeast rice being good for cholesterol thanks to my doctor. But did you know it has other benefits? However, you also need to be aware of the side effects of red yeast rice as well.
Red Yeast Rice
Recently, my husband was diagnosed with high cholesterol and his allopathic doctor wanted him to go onto statins. We were very hesitant has statins are a drug that once you’re on it you usually don’t get off of it.
And we’re not big fans of long term medication. I regularly see a homeopathic doctor who has helped me with a lot of my problems and I was talking to him about my husband and his cholesterol. He suggested a number of supplements that would help my husband’s cholesterol and read yeast rice was one of them.
We of course talked to his doctor who agreed to allow us to try to lower his cholesterol naturally and do another blood test in 3 months to see where we are at. And if you haven’t guessed it, red yeast rice is one of the main supplements my doctor suggested.
Since my husband only has high LDL and no diabetes, heart disease, or any other disease, we realized supplements, diet, and lifestyle could make a big impact. We also have conflicting views of cholesterol too, so we wanted to avoid medication if possible because of this as well.
What Is Red Yeast Rice?

Last Red Yeast Rice Notes: Depletion of CoQ10
Red Yeast Rice can deplete the levels of CoQ10 in the body. What is CoQ10? CoQ10 is an antioxidant that your body produces naturally. It is also found in fish like salmon and tuna. If you are taking red yeast rice or any statin it can affect how your body produces it so you may need a supplement or more fish to help you keep normal CoQ10 levels in the body.
