Chocolate dipped Oreos are some of my favorite treats. The white chocolate dipped are my favorites, but I also like the dark chocolate dipped as well. However, why choose when you can have both with Tuxedo Oreos!
Tuxedo Oreos
Tuxedo Oreos are not only nice looking, but add the taste of sweet white chocolate and the bitter dark chocolate to a yummy crunchy cookie.
You can add sprinkles and make them festive or eat them as is. There is no wrong way to do this.
How Do You Make Chocolate Covered Oreos?
That’s a good question…how do you make chocolate covered Oreos? Well, it’s easy honestly and not as intimidating as you may think. These ones are a little more time consuming, but not by much.
Tuxedo Oreos are made by dipping one half in dark chocolate, and the other half in white chocolate. The only tricky part, and it isn’t really that tricky, is melting the chocolate so it doesn’t seize. Turns out chocolate is finicky.
How Do You Make Chocolate Covered Oreos With Sprinkles?
So, making chocolate covered Oreos or Tuxedo Oreos seems easy enough. But, how do you make chocolate covered Oreos with sprinkles? That’s even easier. Once you have dipped the Oreo, before the chocolate is fully set, add sprinkles. If you wait too long they won’t stick, and pressing the sprinkles into them will smudge the chocolate.
Also!
My apologies, I did forget to take pictures of the ingredients and process! I’ll try to reshoot it soon.
Ingredients Needed To Make Chocolate Dipped Oreos:
- Package Of Chocolate Oreos
- Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melts
- Ghirardelli White Chocolate Melts
Optional:
- Sprinkles
Directions:
Step 1
You can melt the Ghirardelli dark chocolate melts in the microwave. Just follow the instructions on the bag. I melted them on a the stove in a pan as I don’t like using the microwave too much. Low heat, stir, don’t overheat or it will seize. Make sure no water touches your pan or it will seize!
Step 2
Once the chocolate is melted, take your Oreos and dip half of it in the dark chocolate.
Step 3
Set them aside to cool and set slightly and melt your Ghirardelli white chocolate melts the same way you did your dark chocolate wafers.
Step 4
Once the dark chocolate is slightly set, dip the other half in the white chocolate. You should have a small v shape of the cookie still showing.
Step 5
Set aside and once the white chocolate is slightly set, dip it again in the white chocolate. This will give it an even coat and will make the white chocolate opaque.
Step 6
This step is optional. You can add sprinkles to the chocolate before it fully sets to make the extra special.
Step 7
Enjoy!
How Long Will Chocolate Dipped Tuxedo Oreos Last?
My first response to the question; how long will chocolate dipped tuxedo Oreos last is not long. Just like the chocolate chip cookies I make my family eats these delicious chocolate Oreo treats quickly!
But if your family has a little more will power, if you wrap them in wax paper and keep them in an air tight container in the fridge, they will last 1-2 weeks. They technically aren’t fully covered, so they cookie may go soft any longer than that.
