Fermented Food Recipes

As said before, I’ve been hoarding recipes and haven’t had a chance to try them out yet. But I thought I would share them with you. I know many of us are on a journey to get our health back and probiotics and fermented foods are definitely a way to do that. Plus, they taste good. I was getting fermented goodies from the Fermenting Fairy and while I love the company, it’s expensive. So I gathered fermented food recipes to try my hand at it!

What Are Examples Of Fermented Foods

If you’re wondering what fermented foods are they are things like:

The list definitely goes on, but these are just popular fermented foods that people consume on an everyday basis.

Best Fermented Drink Recipes

I love fermented lemonade!

1. Fermented Lemonade Recipe

I LOVE fermented lemonade. It’s refreshing, tasty, and good for the guts. It’s not like your typical lemonade, but it’s still tart with a hint of sweet, and almost carbonated. Also, there is definitely a fermented taste there, but I love it! I’m very excited to try this fermented lemonade recipe.

2. Fermented Kefir Recipe

Kefir is interesting. It isn’t my go-to fermented drink, but I drank a lot of it after I was sick. It’s another one of those fermented foods with all the health benefits. A lot of people will add some honey and fruit to it to cut the tartness. But I added it to my list, because from time to time it’s always great to switch things up and this kefir milk recipe is a perfect way to do that.

3. Fermented Coconut Milk Kefir Recipe

My husband actually prefers coconut milk kefir to dairy milk kefir. Which surprised me, because he loves dairy. But coconut milk kefir is less sharp, tart, and has a fattiness to it that is actually pleasant. Plus, the coconut flavor also lends to the sweetness of the kefir as well. So, I definitely had to add this coconut milk kefir recipe.

4. Fermented Kombucha Recipe

I love kombucha. My favorite brand of kombucha came out of Austin, TX, but unfortunately there was a lot of occult on the packaging. A local farm near me also makes it and it’s so good. But I really wanted to learn to make my own kombucha and learn how to make different flavors. And this website seemed like a good place to learn kombucha tea recipes.

5. Fermented Drinking Vinegar Recipes

Drinking vinegar?! I know, it sounds crazy, but not all vinegars taste the same. In fact, fruit vinegars like apple cider vinegar actually taste sweeter than say distilled white vinegar. These drinking vinegars are diluted and have spices and sugar or maple syrup in them. You may also know these drinks as a shrub. But you can make so many great fruit vinegars to dilute and drink.

Best Fermented Vegetable Recipes

I can live on sauerkraut and fermented carrots.

6. Fermented Dill Carrot Recipe

If you’ve never had fermented dill carrots you are missing out. I’ve never had them whole like this, but I’ve had them shredded and they’re so good. Tart with a hit of dill and garlic, and a nice crunch to boot! Carrots fermented with herbs are healthy and make a great snack or side dish.

7. Fermented Caraway and Fennel Sauerkraut Recipe

Fennel sauerkraut is my new favorite type of sauerkraut. It’s not as sharp as plain cabbage sauerkraut and it is packed full of flavor. This goes so well with sausage and red meats. And it’s super good for your guts!

8. Fermented Peppers Recipe

Y’all, fermented peppers are amazing! They’re tart and spicy, perfect to go with a number of things like: salads, salsa, chicken, tacos, sandwiches. The list goes on and on. Personally, I can eat these bad boys out of the jar by themselves.

9. Fermented Pickle Recipe

Most people either love pickles or hate pickles, I LOVE them. Especially fermented pickles with garlic and dill. Fermented pickles are not only great for your guts, but they make great snacks and go well as a side for like sandwiches, burgers, and bbq.

10. Fermented Kimchi Recipe

I’ve never had kimchi, but I’m very interested in trying it. I hear it’s super flavorful, and like most fermented foods it’s good for your guts. And it goes well with quite a bit. So I do want to make it at least one to try it.

When I tell you I could make a meal out of fermented apples and cinnamon I’m not kidding. They are tart, sweet, with a hint of spice. These fermented apples go very well with your breakfast. Or make a tasty treat when you’re craving something sweet.

12. Fermented Applesauce Recipe

Have you ever had fermented applesauce? If not, you’re missing out. Fermented applesauce is so good. It goes well with breakfast, with pork, as a snack. It’s sweet and doesn’t really taste fermented. At least to me anyway. I really enjoyed it and you can add other flavors like ginger or cinnamon too.
