Welcome to Husband’s Corner. This will be an irregular column pertaining to a man’s role in the home. I plan to address topics such as:
- Safety of the home
- Home security
- Leading your wife and family
My intent here is to provide assistance, guidance, and some limited instruction. I hesitate to call this advice. Be aware that words have power and I will attempt to use these wisely, and, as such, sparingly.
This will be a place where I speak on some hard-earned experience. I do not presume to preach. I am no Saint. I have learned as most do: by failure. Many trials, fraught with failure, have garnered me a small measure of what I dare to call wisdom. This little I will share, most likely as anecdotes.
Be warned! I am a man to whom the appellation means something. If you have ever used the phrase “toxic masculinity” unironically, then you are in for some hard lessons. I would beseech such to hold on and challenge themselves.
Keep an open mind. If you are one such, and find yourself here, you have already accepted that something is amiss. That there is a vitality that is lacking. Be heartened for you have taken a crucial first step. There will be many more but you have already undertaken the most difficult.
So please, grab a chair, light a smoke, and pour yourself a cold one. Listen to an old man recount his errors, his successes, and even the fruitless victories. If these will help just one man to be a husband of character then I shall be content.
