Super Easy Homemade Butter Recipe

Make your own butter using only heavy whipping cream and a mason jar!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream

Equipment

  • 1 mason jar

Method
 

  1. Fill a mason jar with heavy whipping cream and put the lid and ring back on.
  2. Shake your mason jar vigorously.
  3. Keep shaking even when the liquids stop sloshing.
  4. Continue to shake even when you see the butter begin to clump together.
  5. Once the butter is clumped AND there is buttermilk then you can begin the next steps.
  6. Pour out the buttermilk.
  7. Shape your butter and rinse it in ice water.
  8. Squeeze using a cheese cloth or hands and then rinse it in ice water again.
  9. Rinse and squeeze 3 times.
  10. Add in your flavorings like sea salt and mix with a spatula.
  11. Shape or mold or whip the butter and put it in the fridge or eat it right away!
