I love this sourdough pancake recipe! Not only is it super yummy, but it’s a great way to use up excess sourdough discard. These pancakes are a little different from traditional pancakes, but it is sure to be a family favorite recipe!

Sourdough Pancake Recipe

Yeah, so, sourdough pancakes are a thing, and they are seriously delicious. I recently got a sourdough starter and I didn’t want to throw out the discard, so I searched the internet until I found recipes I thought my family would like, and this is one of them.

This is the original recipe, I did make some changes to fit my family’s tastes. That is one of the best things about recipes…you can change them so your family will love them.

And boy did they love this one. These pancakes are sweet, super light, fluffy, with a tang to them. And they don’t sit in your stomach like a brick like traditional pancakes do.

Ingredients Needed To Make This Sourdough Pancake Recipe

  • 2 Cups Unbleached All Purpose Flour
  • 2 TSP Baking Powder
  • 1 TSP Baking Soda
  • 3 TBSP Granulated Sugar
  • 1 TSP Salt
  • 1 Cup Runny Sourdough Discard
  • 1 1/2 Cups Oat Milk (Or regular milk if you can have it)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
  • 2 TBSP Butter (You can also use canola or vegetable oil)

How To Make This Yummy and Tasty Sourdough Pancake Recipe

Step 1

Add your flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar to a bowl.

Step 2

Whisk together so it’s mixed well.

Step 3

Add your liquid ingredients: sourdough starter, oat milk ( or milk), egg, and oil.

Step 4

Mix well until combined, don’t over mix.

Step 5

Heat up your griddle on low to medium heat.

Notes:

Make sure you spray your pan with non-stick spray if needed.

Step 6

Add a pat of butter on the pan and then add your pancake.

We like big sourdough pancakes….well big pancakes in general.

Notes:

I use a ladle and 1 full ladle makes 1 pancake. Yes, we eat large pancakes.

Step 7

Cook until the edges look cooked and you have large bubbles on the middle of the pancake.

Step 8

Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 9

Serve with syrup and enjoy!

Easy and Yummy Sourdough Pancakes
