I love Christian worship songs, and I always have since I was a kid. I didn’t get to listen to Christian worship music on a regular basis until I was an adult. The best part is, these worship songs are great for the whole family, kids of all ages, whether you’re in a joyful season or a difficult season.
Christian Worship Songs
The thing about worship songs is that not only do they have Christian aspects to them, but they’re positive and uplifting.
I know there are some controversy as a lot of Christian songs are about me, me, me, and I, I, I, however, I think the positive message from many of these songs are what people need to hear sometimes as Christian music has had big impacts on people.
Including myself. I was in a difficult season of my life where I was overworked and overlooked and Christian music on my way home is what kept me sane. Even now, Christian worship music plays a big part of my life, especially in the hardest times. Though I like to try, it doesn’t always happen, worship, praise, and sing on Saturdays.
And because there are so many songs out there, I wanted to share my favorite list of songs along with their lyrics, meaning, and why I love them.
The Best List of Christian Worship Songs
1. Names by Ben Laine

This song I actually found on Facebook and I fell in love with it. It’s beautiful as it goes through all of God’s wonderful names like:
- Adonai- Adonai is the Hebrew word in the Old Testament meaning Lord of Lords.
- El Shadi- El Shaddai is Hebrew for God Almighty.
- God Alrmighty
- Jehovah Rapha- means The God that heals.
- Elohim- is the plural word of Eloah, and is the first word of the Bible
- King of Kings
- Abba- An intimate way to address God as Father
- Jehovah Jireh- means God will provide.
- Our Provider
- Jesus
Praying to God and saying all His names is beautiful. Acknowledging all the different aspects of God is important in knowing who He is as each name has a deep meaning.
2. In Jesus Name by Katy Nicole
Everything we say is either a blessing or curse. We have the power to build up or tear down with the words that come out of our mouth.
- Proverbs 18:21 – The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
- Matthew 12:36-37– I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for “every careless word they speak for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
- Ephesians 4:29– Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
This Christian song is beautiful in the fact it beseeches God to bless and heal people. It praises God for being mighty and that praying is the ultimate form of love. I often think about those I love and pray over them with this song.
3. The Blessing by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes
This is another song that has to do with blessing others. I like to think about the my friends with children and bless their families throughout the generations. I think it’s beautiful to bless your friends and families. It makes me emotional every time I listen to it! Tears and goosebumps every time I listen to this Christian worship song.
4. Confidence by Sanctus Real
This song is so beautiful. When I read the Bible I often times want to be like those I read, and this song embodies those feelings. I want to be strong, be faithful, and hopeful. I want God to use me and for others to see God in me. I think this worship song is the perfect way to remind myself of those virtues and that I need to grow the good fruits of the Spirit.
5. Blessed Be Your Name by Tree63
This song I have loved since I was a child and one of the first Christian worship songs I’ve ever heard. Sing about how beautiful God is, and that He is worthy of our praise! Blessed be the name of the Lord indeed!

6. Our God Is An Awesome God by Michael W. Smith
This Christian worship song is so simple, but it’s a classic worship song! Our God is an awesome God who reigns with wisdom, power, and love. God is love and so amazing. Raise up your hands and sing!

7. Indescribably by Christ Tomlin
Y’all, I’m getting emotional writing this and listening through all this music. God is so good, He really is, and there aren’t adequate enough words to talk about His amazing love, His power, or goodness. There are no words good enough to describe God, His holiness, amazingness, and goodness is truly indescribable.
8. Then Sings My Soul by Alan Jackson
How great art thou! This beautiful hymn is sung by Alan Jackson, and is a great way to praise God. Slow and full of purpose about God’s awesome wonder. It’s a great song reminding us that when we are close to God that our souls sing and that we find joy in the Lord.
9. Down To The River To Pray by Alison Krauss
This is another beautiful Christian worship song that is fairly old actually. But it’s so lovely, and actually one of my husband’s favorite Christian songs. This song is not only about studying the word of God and following that narrow path, but about Baptism and preparing for it with your family may it be blood or by faith.
10. God of Wonders by Third Day
Sometimes its good to just praise. Not talk about us, but talk about how magnificent, how holy, how wonderful God is and that’s why I like this song. It does just that. It’s nice to lift up your hands and praise and sing to the Lord about how amazing He is. Plus, this is not only a great way to praise, but to also put on the garment of praise when we’re in a bad place.
Worship With Beautiful Christian Worship Music
Christian worship music is great to lift up your mood, help lead you back to God, to inspire you, and most importantly to praise God. Christian worship music is a great resource to go along with prayer, reading the Bible, and spending time with God. I hope you like these songs as much as I do!
