Have you heard of the 5 Heavenly Crowns? Did you know in Heaven we will be rewarded for out time on Earth? What are these 5 Heavenly crowns and will everyone get a crown? 5 Crowns in the Bible- Crown on a wood table- 5 heavenly crowns- Homemaking For God
There are 5 heavenly crowns Christians can receive when they reach Heaven.

We Should All Strive To Receive The 5 Heavenly Crowns

Christians who run the race before them will receive rewards in Heaven! How amazing is that? Christians will receive these rewards for running that spiritual race and keeping their faith and eyes in Jesus. And when the day comes and we are standing before the Judgement Seat these rewards will He give us, but only if we earned them.

I’ve heard so many Christians say “I’ll just be happy in Heaven I don’t need crowns and rewards.” And that mindset bothers me. It sounds like “I want to get into Heaven by the hair of my teeth and not have to put in a lot of work on Earth.”

Rewards: The 5 Heavenly Crowns Based On Our Faith and Service To God

That may not be the case, but shouldn’t we strive to be the best we can in Christ? Because, there will be a day we stand before the Judgement Seat our service and faith in God and He will judge us. And if that evaluation goes well, we will be rewarded. Every action, word, and thought He will judge and look at.

And those rewards are the 5 Heavenly Crowns. But what are the 5 Heavenly Crowns?

The 5 Heavenly Crowns

1. Imperishable Crown

1 Corinthians 9:25-27

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

This crown relates to life of being pure. God is Pure and Holy and His servants who lived holy will get this as their reward.

How do you live a Holy life?

To live a holy life you have to deliberately in being different than the world because you are a child of God. Because we are children of God we have to strive to live like Jesus. We cannot follow God and live in this world at the same time. What I mean by that is, we cannot do as non-believers do and still claim to be a Christian. We have to be set apart from evil.

To live a Holy life we must:

  • Accept Jesus as our Savior
  • Stop with sexual immorality
  • Crucify the flesh (not giving into pleasurable things, anger, overeating, being lazy, the stuff our body wants to do when we know it isn’t healthy or follow God’s word)
  • Be obedient to God
  • Withstand Temptation
  • Repent when we fail
  • Spread God’s word and joy
  • Do what God called us to do
  • Keep our joy and trust in God
  • Study His word/pray/worship/praise

2. Crown Of Rejoicing

For ye are our glory and joy.

Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

The crown of rejoicing is what it sounds like. It’s literally a crown of joy. We are told in Philippians 4:4 that we are to “rejoice always in the Lord.” And in this life, even as the world is falling apart around us we should be rejoicing! We have so many wonderful things to be joyful about the most important thing being we have a God that loves, protects, and takes care of us.

A God who sent His only son to die for us and take that punishment from us. (John 3:16.)

Rejoicing is such an important thing that they even rejoice in Heaven (Luke 15:7). When we go to Heaven God will wipe away every tear, and there shall be no more death, sorrow, or crying or pain. (Revelations 21:4)

3. Crown Of Righteousness

2 Timothy 4:8

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

This everlasting heavenly crown is given to us through Christ. It is given to all who love God and wait for His return patiently and early. This crown is not given to those based on works or their self-righteousness, but those who eagerly await God to return through all the discouragement, suffering, persecution, and even death.

4. Crown of Life

Revelation 2:10

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

The crown of Life is given to believers who endured suffering and persecution and death and stayed focused on Jesus. This is the crown of martyrs and those who were sustained on the living water and bread of life during the hardest parts of their lives, Jesus.

The crown of glory is for those who long for Jesus’ return.

5. Crown of Glory

1 Peter 5:4

And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

This heavenly crown will be rewarded to lose who long and desire for Jesus’ return. Christians should recognize how blessed they are to enter the kingdom of God, to be in the presence of God. So we should not be consumed by the sufferings of this world, because the glory of God we will witness will surpass it all. We should be longing for the day we see Jesus’ in His return.

Being Part of God’s Glory and Receiving the 5 Heavenly Crowns

We should strive to emulate Jesus. Not just for rewards, because we love God and want to be Holy and have that relationship with Him. However, when we strive to fulfill the requirements for these crowns we are actually picking up attributes of God. We are living in Joy, looking forward to Jesus’ return rather than fearing it, keeping faith and suffering joyfully for God, living a holy life, and those who await patiently through suffering for the return of Jesus.

It all goes full circle. Turns out when you strive for the things God wants you to have that it benefits you and you will grow good fruits and not live an easy life, but a life of joy despite what is happening in the world.

The 5 Crowns In The Bible

A lot of times I hear people saying they’ll be happy if they barely make it to heaven, that they don’t want or need any rewards. That’s sad to me. We shouldn’t strive to do the bare minimum, but be the best as God intended. We should want to strive for the 5 crowns in the Bible. The 5 crowns in the Bible are things we should strive for just like the fruits of Spirit. So, don’t strive for the bare minimum, do your best and try to be more Christ-like. And who knows, I don’t know which of the 5 crowns in the Bible we will get, but I think we should definitely try!

Final Recap: We Will All Have A Chance To Earn Our Rewards In Heaven: The 5 Crowns In The Bible
